FAMOUS TWEEPS : WINDOW VIEW

Being always on twitter and being freelancers, we have always wondered what famous freelancers we know and daily chat with on twitter do look at when they turn and look at their windows.

What you see when looking outside your window can sometimes inspire or simpy relax you, in any case it usually influences your day, your mood and work.

This is what we at TheLanceLife (WPstudios) see when turning left :

TheLanceLife

We just asked a few friends to send us a picture of what they see outside their windows when they are at work, and now you can see it too and get inspired :)

Its so cool to read a creative blog post once in a while.

    Well done WPStudios. seriously.

  • Rajesh Pancholi

I think I need to work closer to David (@obox)

  • Lee Munroe

I’ll gladly swap with David :)

  • aravind

    This is an awesome post!.
Now I know why the obox is very creative in the way they are.. and I wonder where Aran Down works..? in the clouds?? :P

  • WPstudios

OK good question, I think I need to explain where Aran Down was, and here is it what he said to me :

“I am currently traveling the world and working from a laptop for 3 months. I got inspired by Collis, and his round the world travels.

So this is what my window looks like right now. This is a picture of the Gulf Islands, in British Columbia, on a small airplane on a flight to Vancouver BC.”

Yes that means he was in the clouds for real :)

  • Rajesh Pancholi

Now you mention it its quite “plane” to see where he works : )

  • David Airey

Great idea for a blog post. I think we all want to know more about how other people work. The grass isn’t always greener, but it’s very tempting to think so.

  • Graham Smith

The best one so far has to be Mr Spooner’s. I love the rain on the window, so, so, ermm, England.

Also loving Andy’s set-up, loving the colour of the walls, what shade is that Andy? Maybe the lancelife can do some interior decorating tips. lol

And Cameron including the laundry, how funny.

Just to add, so you can get some perspective with my view. The far right is the coast, so you can ‘just’ make out the sea. So this is where I head every day with Dylan.

Then up from that we have the green hills, which is actually the cliffs of Seaford Head which then backs onto the Seven Sisters and onto Beachy Head, as well as the Cuckmere River.

Just over the top of the hill there, are the cottages by the river outlet where Atonement was filmed, so now and again see spitfire and bombers roaming these skies for various movies and adverts etc.

To the far left is also a forest and then the sweeping South Downs.

Love where I live, it’s quiet and close to nature.

    Great idea for a post.

And loving Rajesh’s sense of humour as always.

I wonder if Aran needs a PA? Hmmm…

  • Graham Smith

Rajesh > You always have your head in the skies. :)

  • Graham Smith

Also, loving Louis’s shot. Great to have that contrast of urban over country. Each one has it’s merits. I know people who LOVE the city and wouldn’t move for the world. Love the hustle, noise and movement.

Looking out of that window, always something to see. I do love people watching, so this sort of view would be awesome. Although I need ‘calmness’ in my day.

Haha thanks Graham. :) it was what I saw out my window lol – was a rainy day too, surprisingly in contrast with David’s who’s about a 40min drive away hehe – I’m pretty jealous of that view as well :)

Thanks for this post Federica- it’s cool to see how everyone works :) and thanks for getting hold of me – glad I could partake with my laundry-line haha

This is a great post and it’s fun to see what our fellow designers’ environment looks like. Some of these views are amazing… I live in New Jersey near a beach but none of the oceans near me compare to any these shots (definitely not Aran’s). It’s weird to think that where most of you live, I’d like to vacation to one day. Thanks for the compliment Graham, and here’s an explanation of my view: I work in New York City on Broadway in the Fashion district. I love the city, but when it comes to work I like it to be quiet and as calm as possible. I also love to people watch but rarely look at the street from my 20th floor window.

  • Andy Sowards

This is an awesome post lol. David and Aran’s views definitely rock!! LOL Rajesh I agree, it looks like Aran Lives in some kind of ‘flying cloud fortress’ lol. Where can I get one of those? :) stunning view.

@Graham, Thanks man! I appreciate it! I owe it all to my wife, she did everything in there lol, i’ll have to ask her what shade of orange that is, but I love it! It goes perfectly with the espresso colored furniture we got to go in there, I want to put my new logo up on the wall somewhere but haven’t gotten that far yet lol

As for Louis, I love the urban look, I always wanted to live ‘in the city’ and have that type of view out my window, but maybe one day :) right now I need the calm with all these toddlers in my house ;)

Thanks wpstudios for the post! It great!

  • Pablo Lara Henriquez

    Thank you for the creativity.
    Tante auguri,

  • Aran Down

    Hey All :)

Love the views, esp like obox’s view, looks really relaxing.

Currently Im about a month away from finishing the 3 month work/travel trip inspired by Collis.

Will be in northern India coming up in a week. Trying to secure wireless internet at the moment somewhere way into the Himalayas.

I highly recommend working and traveling, even just for a week or two here and there. Flights are very affordable right now.

I can’t wait to get back and check out the new iPhone though!

  • Kimberly Beaven

Absolutely love the views – I can see I might need a work share program with a few of you to swap workspaces for a week or so – a designer work holiday of sorts. Great post!

  • Richard Darell

I am honored to be among these people. All great people and inspiring to follow. Great idea for a post and I must say it’s quite satisfying being able to look through the other peoples windows. :) Oddly. lol

Great post and honored to be mentioned!

    Keep up the great work!

  • James McDonald

OMG – @davidperel could you hire me as a designer for obox? I wouldn’t mind wakening up every single day and looking out to that amazingly stunning view! WOW!

  • chad engle

Wow. That is such an awesome idea and really well pulled off. I like it a lot. Nice job!

  • Luis Ahmed

Wow, Aran Down, seriously that is your window view? no wonder you are a creative designer.

  • b1tzmast3r

Ahh yes…the window of inspiration! Where I normally sit I barely have to look up to see a floor-to-ceiling widow displaying a vast amount of inspiring nature.

My favorite place is to avoid the window completely and just sit out on the back deck where I can be visited by my squirrel friends looking for an afternoon treat.

Thanks for sharing this super cool idea!

  • gary holmes

Very cool idea, thanks for sharing. All is see is my neighbours garbage can, not very inspiring at all and on hot days extremely smelly with a south wind blowing.

  • BeDesign

:-D Great Viewes. Outside my window i just see business buildings..

  • 9swords

Excellent! You guy’s are truly creative in every way. Respect due! @cameronolivier seems to have tweetdeck & a pair of pajamas going on there. Amazing post, thanks.

  • CameronOlivier

@9swords – Lol, it’s just a normal work day for me.. haha

  • Misty Belardo

This is an amazing post. Love seeing what the tweeps I follow see from their windows. My favorite is @obox, Rajesh and Graham’s view, lovely.

  • Niilo Tippler

Great post! I love seeing other people’s workspaces and views. I have a great book that shows all manner of varied workplaces of Japanese designers/developers. Unfortunately, my window looks out on the car park shared by a Diesel Store, Mulberry and Marc Jacobs – not particularly inspiring, especially when there are delivery trucks backed up right outside my window at weekend. :(

  • Martin Newham

Love this post – here’s a picture looking out of the window at work today..
