A free soul usually looks for freedom, even when working, and being a freelance is the right choice.

We had an interview with Juza that, being in love with photography and wild nature, decided to combine both and become a worldwide known talented nature professional freelance photographer.

Hi Juza, would you mind introducing yourself to our readers and telling us something about you and your passion for photography? When and how it was born?

I was born in Italy in 1985 and I have always been fascinated by nature, travel, exploration. I got my first SLR, a Nikon N60 film camera, in 1999, so I begun taken photos of nature subjects. Initially photography wasn’t my passion – I toke photos just to “record” the subject on film, but with time I have got more and more involved into photography, that now has become my great passion. I have got seriosly into photography in 2004, when I bought my first digital camera.

Why nature is your favourite subject?

My first passion was nature, photography came after – so it is not a suprise I am a nature photographer

When did you decide you had to be a freelance and why?

I have always thought about photography as a freelance work…my name “Juza” is a japanese name that means “free as the clouds”, and since photography is my passion, I wanted to create a work that could give me as much freedom and passion as it can. At the beginning it has not been easy, but now I am well known and the work goes very well!

Buying photographic and technological equipments together with software can be quite expensive and we know most freelance at the beginning of their career have small budgets, do you have any advice for them?

I’d suggest to buy a cheap digital SLR and few lenses – better few good lenses than a lot of poor lenses – and to work as much as possible…it takes a lot of passion and determination! A good way to begin working with photography is to teach workshop – this is how I started!

How did you manage to become well known and get hired? Did your website and forum helped?

I begun with workshop and with time my website got larger and larger, and nowadays it has thousands of visit every day! It helps me a lot, I sell photos excluvely through my website. Other than that, I have two forums about photography, an international forum in english and an Italian forum with more than 8000 members!

Would you ever change your freelance life for an employed work?

Never Photography, traveling, freedom is my life!
