We all know how hard it is to balance between design/coding and all business stuff like invoices, clients, sales etc.
We will this week review a powerfull approach to freelance business management called Freelance Total.
Freelance Total is a web app developed by Australian VDPwebsites a design and marketing agency founded by Luke van de Paverd.

Freelance Total comes with 4 main plans you can choose among : Small, Basic, Large and Mega. All plans are free for the first 30 days, there’s also a very limited free plan that can help you to get an idea on how Freelance Total works and if it fits your business needs.

Once registered you will get your personal FreelanceTotal app url where you can login and enter the main web app page:

A “welcome” reminder will inform you that it’s time to setup some information about you into the Account Settings section before going on. You will need to edit your business profile entering data like usual Company and Invoicing details.

After this simple step the app will remind you that now it’s time to add some client since “Clients form the backbone of Freelance Total”

After client creation you will get a summary of all client’s informations together with an URL the client can use to check his invoices.
The client will also appear in the Clients main view.

You can now setup a few more things like taxes and most of all products and services that you are going to “sell” to your clients.

You are now ready to start managing your business adding :
- leads
- projects
- invoices
We want to spend a few words on the good job done on Projects management : every project has a deadline, you can add tasks with their own deadline, tracking time in terms of hours to bill hourly rate items or directly add fices rate items to final bill, also Freelance Total will be one of the first apps of it’s kind in the world to use an embedded Google Wave to handle client collaboration, allowing docs and files exchange made easy.

To have a full overview of all features just have a look at Freelance Total website Tour section.
Together with Freelance Total service you get full support and an app development blog where you can have news of all new features being developed and Freelance Total team is always at work to make this product even better every day with new functionalities as they are requested by users.

FreelanceTotal seems like one of the most solid apps for what it does- a complete package for managing every aspect of your business. Since it’s a web app it’s accessible from anywhere without having to worry about backing up databases.
I’m 22, in a college town, starting a freelance design, writing, and computer consulting business. With all the clients I have lining up, I can’t think of a reason not to want to use this.

I’m not a full time freelancer, but I have come to find that it is difficult to keep track of the projects that I am working on. Also, I would love to have a better system like FreelanceTotal to use for Invoices. It would make me seem even more professional then I already appear.
