As you may know already Twitter is one of the most used social networks among designers and creative people and is becoming everyday even more populated with very talented people.
Twitter’s own web interface is one of the simplest ever seen even if, when your network contacts increase ,it may become almost impossible to understand what’s going on in your timeline and that’s the main reason why you should usually use a specific application to handle all your Twitter traffic.
Adobe Flex and AIR technologies are a great environment to develop modern, simple and also good looking applications running on Windows, Mac and Linux without any programmer effort to develop multiOS code , and this is exaclty the coding environment that TweetDeck coders did choose.
TweetDeck like all AIR applications is extremely easy to install directly from web ( TweetDeck ) and if you do not have AIR framework installed on your computer it will automatically be downloaded from Adobe internet servers and installed before Tweetdeck and all this with just one click. We will talk more in depth about the power of Flex and AIR later on in this blog and you will also read some work in progress post about a Flex/AIR application that is currently under development by WPstudios.
The concept beyond Tweetdeck is to organize all tweets in virtually the way you like, using the powerful concept of “search columns” . You can create an place on TweetDeck main window how many columns you like and each column is the result of a specific query/search.
Each column can also be a view on a group as you can create groups of people to better organize and follow different interest groups and avoid confusion.
Being an application in beta stage TweetDeck can sometimes show some bug even if I have to say that in regular usage under both Windows and OSX I never noticed any problem. Twitter API usage can be tweaked to better suit your needs balancing refresh time and the kind of twitter informations to retrieve and in the last software revision support to Facebook status update was also added so that you can choose to tweet and facebook at the same time or separatelly.
URL shortening and support for Twitpic is also included to make updating status easy and fast, just a matter of clicks and also the important functionality of retweet is as easy as a simple click.
Tweetdeck is the best solution available today for every freelance to maximize the level of connections/profit/marketing possibilities offered by Twitter, the power of retweet is huge when coming to spreading the word about a new product, a new website, freelance availability to hire or simply when looking for help from the great Twitter freelance community, one of the best around.

I started using TweetDeck almost from the first moment I started using Twitter (based on recommendation many people made on Twitter) and haven’t stopped since.

Unfortunately for users of TweetDeck,
the latest version (0.30.1) seems to have lacked user testing & quality control
and is almost unusable.
